Teaching procedures: Step One:Studying aims

Show students today’s studying aims. Get them to look through the studying aims by themselves. Step Two: New words

Show students this lesson’s new words. Get them to read the new words according to the pronunciation. If necessary, ask Teacher or classmates for help. Then ask some students to read the new words to check. Step Three:Lead-in Tell the difference.

Show students two picutres. Get them find out the differences between these two pictures and try to fill in the blanks. Make them understand “outdoor” and “indoor” better. Step Four:Comic strip 1.

Teacher presents a picture and tell the students that Eddie and Hobo are also doing an outdoor activity. Get Students to look at the picture and answer what outdoor activity they are doing. Help Students to answer: They are hiking. 2.

Students watch a short video about Eddie and Hobo and try to answer: How does Eddie feel? Why can’t Eddie hurry up? 3.

Students read the dialogue in roles and try to answer:

What does Hobo think of Eddie? What does Hobo think of Eddie’s bag? Step Five: Talk about more outdoor activities. 1.A brainstorm.

Get the students to say as many outdoor activities as they can to check if they have mastered the words about outdoor activities.

Show students some pictures. Get them to say out the names of the outdoor activities. Teach the new words if necessary. Ask some students to read the new words. 3.A guessing game.

Show students some pictures and descriptions. Get them to guess what kind of activities they are according to the pictures and descriptions, outdoor e.g:climbing,cycling,jogging etc. 4.Practice

Students finish Part A on Page 69 in their textbooks. Check the answers in pairs. Step Six: Listening 1.Students listen to Daniel and Amy’s conversation. Try to find out the answers to the questions:

①What outdoor activities would Amy like to try? Why? ②What outdoor activities would Daniel like to try? Why? 2.Students listen to the tape again. Try to read after it. They should pay more attention to the pronunciation and intonation. 3.Students read the conversation by themselves and try to fill in the form: Name Amy Daniel Step Seven: Practice in pairs

Students work in pairs to make up a similar dialogue lke this: A: What outdoor activity would you like to try? B: I want to go ….

A: Why? B: Because …. What about you?

A: I want to go ….

B: What do you like about …?

Step Eight: Language points

Students go through these two pages and try to find out something difficult. They can ask Teacher or classmates for help if necessary.
