Teaching Design Learning goals: 1. To predict before listening. 2. To listen for details with definite purposes. 3. To talk with others about study, hobbies and personalities. Learning important points: 1. To guess before listening. 2. To listen for details with definite purposes. Learning difficult point: To talk with others about study, hobbies and personalites.

Learning process: I. Lead in: watch two video clips and answer: What can he/she do?

(Take classmates as examples to shorten the distance between class and real life and arouse the interest of students.)

Then introduce: Different people have different abilities!

II. Talk about abilities. 1. Listen for Sandy’s and Daniel’s abilities. (listen for details)

2. Read after the tape and have a group reading. (practise oral English)

3. Pair work. Talk about your abilities with a fixed sentence pattern.

4. Think and answer.(a transition between two topics )

III. Talk about the report card. 1. Review all the subject names. 2. Introduce new expressions and describe the performance on the report card. 3. Group work. (practise oral English)

4. Read a report card and find out some information. 5. Listen and have a match. (learn to predict with key words)

6. Listen and fill in blanks. (learn to predict if it’s about places/sports/weekdays)

7. Think and answer. 8. Group work. (practise oral English)

IV. Further thinking. How to be a good student from the aspect of study, hobbies and personalities? (encourage students to think actively and practise oral English)

V. Homework. Design a report card for one of your group members. (practise writing and arouse students’ interest in designing something)
