Teaching Plan Using Language I (Book8 Unit5 Meeting your ancestors) Teaching Aims:

Let students know the life details of people in ancient times and learn to find out useful details according to requirements. Teaching Procedures: Step one pre-reading Work in pairs and make a guess at the following two questions. What were the early women’s tasks?

What were the early men’s tasks?

Step two Fast reading Let students read the whole passage for 4 mins. In groups discuss what the possible work division was between men and women at that time and fill in the chart.

Step Three Careful Reading

Now look closely at the tasks above and discuss which adjectives best describe each of them. Give your reasons.

Step Four Discussion Let students discuss the following questions in groups. When do they work co-operatively and when do they do tasks alone？

Who does the most dangerous tasks? Where the danger comes from？

Whether the tasks are shared fairly between men and women？

Step Five Writing Choose an antique found in Sanxingdui Ruins, find some information on the internet and write a paragraph about it.
