Teaching Design for Module 2, Book 1 My New Teachers Teaching Contents Module 2, Book 1 My New Teachers Reading : My New Teachers I. Teaching Material Analysis

This is the 2nd module in Book 1, and the topic is “my new teachers”.

It consists of three paragraphs, and each paragraph talks about one teacher.

In paragraph 1, it describes an English teacher, Mrs. Li.

In paragraph 2, students will learn about a physics teacher, Mrs. Chen.

In paragraph 3, the major figure is Mr. Wu, a Chinese teacher.

This module is quite close to students’ daily life. Through studying this module, students are able to use the words, phrases and sentences when they want to introduce or write a person in English. II. Design of Teaching Objectives 1.

Knowledge and skills

(1)Teach students some key words, phrases and sentences. (2)Consolidate the V-ing pattern and improve their reading abilities. 2.

Process and methods

1) Skimming : to get the main idea of the passage.

(1)Help students to understand the criteria for a good teacher.

学生活动：学生分组把自己的想法汇报给组员。

设计意图：（1）激活学生已有的信息，使学生具备摄入新知识的心理定势。

（2）激发学生的学习兴趣。

（3）帮助老师引入课文的主题

教师活动：教师用投影仪展示出问题

Look at the questions in the pre-reading part and then get a general idea about the text. 学生活动：学生快速浏览课文，了解课文大意

设计意图：训练学生快速阅读，归纳主旨大意以及快速寻找信息的能力

Scanning (10 mins) 教师活动：要求学生认真阅读课文，寻找相关信息

Ask students to read the questions in Part 4.Train students to scan the text for some specific information.

学生活动：认真阅读课文完成任务，然后向全班汇报。

设计意图：训练学生快速查读细节、捕捉信息的能力。

教师活动：教师展示一些具有归纳总结性的问题

1. Ask the students to do pair-work and discuss the main characters of each teacher. 2.Through an example , students discuss how to describe a person by using what they have learned. 学生活动：学生思考并讨论上述问题，然后向全班同学汇报。

设计意图：①帮助学生进行课堂反思，自己学到了些什么知识；

②学生收集课文中没有解决的问题，以便课后进一步讨论。

教师活动：讲解文中出现的实用的单词与短语表达

1.Explain the text in detail and deal with some difficult language points, such as first impression, avoid, make progress, etc. 2.Consolidate the V-ing pattern by giving some words followed by –ing. 学生活动：做好笔记，学会举一反三

设计意图：解决学生在读课文时遇到的语言问题，并鼓励在实际生活中反复运用，举一反三

Step X 教学反思

这堂课基本做到了把课堂让给学生，让学生在自主、合作、探究的气氛中愉快度过，既顺利完成教学任务，又促进其情感教育。首先，良好的导入是整个课堂成功的一半，它能够紧紧抓住学生的心理和兴趣，使课堂教学更具趣味性和艺术性。总体来说，这节课的导入是比较成功的，“教有趣，必乐学”。其次，教学内容设计要符合本班学生的实际情况，难度适中，尽量满足不同类型和不同层次学生的要求。在整个教学过程中，我始终坚持以学生为主体实施教学，创设了多种形式的交际活动。但是，本堂课也还存在一些不足，需要加以改进：1、由于本堂课任务多，容量大，导致完成任务时间较紧，今后应注意教学步骤间的紧密衔接，充分体现教师主导、学生主体作用。节课注重对课文的整体理解和对材料的挖掘，但忽略了一些基础语言知识和句子结构的掌握。今后应该注意篇章文意与语言知识结构的有机结合。
