Ask them who first worked out the problem in the world with a much easier solution. (A ten-year-old boy (高斯（C.F. Gauss ) worked out the problem assigned by the teacher in a few seconds.）

Divide students into four groups and ask them to discuss the techniques they use when they read different kinds of text. There are lots of reading in our daily life. Let’s see how to become a successful reader. Ask students to look at the title of the passage and the three pictures in the text and get the students to predict “What will the text say about reading”

4. SUMMARY Step V

Scanning The students read the text again, based on what they have known of the whole passage, to obtain required specific information. The teacher gives some guidance on how to focus on what is necessary information, and ignore what is unnecessary information. Step VI In-depth reading The students read the text again and answer these questions in groups. Encourage them to discuss in groups and voice their opinions bravely. Complete Ex. 3 in Comprehending on Page 34. in your own words.

Step VII Analysing the passage Discuss and analyse the passage to get some writing and organization skills Step VIII Homework Ask students to evaluate their reading style and work out a program to improve their reading or giving others suggestions how to improve reading efficiency.
