Step 1 Warm up T: Boys and girls, we have learnt Unit2 Good habits. We know we should do well at home and at school. But how do we do well on the road? Let’s learn Unit 4 Road safety together.

Step 2 Presentation 1.

Learn the words. (1)T: (Show a picture.)If we want to do well on the road, we should know what’s on the road first. It’s a picture of a road. What’s this?(Point and ask one by one.) Ss: Answer the question.

It’s a busy road.

It’s a zebra crossing.

It’s a pavement.

They are some traffic lights. It’s the green man/red man.

Game T: I’ll show you some words quickly. If you can read, please read loudly and fast. Ss: Watch and read the words.

2. 学习课文第一部分

T: Now we know something about a road well. How can we cross the road safely? Watch Part 1 of the story time and try to answer the question. Ss: Learn Part 1 of the story time. (1) Watch the cartoon. (2) Underline the information. (3) Discuss in groups. T: Ask Ss to answer the question and write down the key words. Ss: Look for a zebra crossing.

Look at the traffic lights.

Wait for the green man. 通过看第一部分课文的卡通，学生先通过自主学习找出关键信息，然后在小组讨论中分享并形成答案。

3.学习课文第二部分

T: Good job! Now we know how to cross the road safely when there is a zebra crossing. But sometimes we cannot find a zebra crossing. How can we cross the road safely? Let’s learn Part 2. Ss:

(1) Read freely (2) Underline the information. (3) Discuss in groups. T: Ask Ss to answer the question and write down the key words. Ss: Wait on the pavement.

Look left first, then right and then left again.

Cross the road with other people.

4. 学习课文第三部分

T: (Show the pictures of Part 3)What can you see in the pictures? S: Some boys are playing football by the road.

A boy is skating/running on the road. T: Is it safe? Why? S: No. Because there are many cars and bikes on the road. T: So what rules do you know? Ss: Don’t _____ or _____ on the road.

Step 3 Consolidation 1. Watch and read the story time. Ss read the story time together. 2. Retell the story time. Ss: Try to retell the story time by oneself or in groups. 3. T: We have learnt the story time. Let’s complete the notes on Page 38. Ss: Complete the notes and correct in groups

4. Look and say. (书上P38 ) T: We have learnt some rules about road safety. What must we do or not do on the road? Ss: Discuss and say in groups. We mustn’t run on the road. We must wait on the pavement. We mustn’t play on the road. We must look left first, then right and then left again.
