I. General idea of the design for this lesson

1.

Develop the students’ ability of getting information through reading.

2. Students will be able to say something about music using the related information, vocabulary and the sentence patterns both in spoken and written forms.

3.Teaching activities designed in this lesson follow the principle from easy to difficult according to the ability of the students .In addition, the activities designed are practical. 4.Use the textbook flexibly by integrating different components into this lesson. 5.Stimulate the students’ imagination and creativity.

II. Teaching Background Analysis 1.The analysis of teaching contents

The topic of this unit is about music and introduce different types of music.

This lesson is the fourth period in this unit. The students will learn about Freddy Frog and his band. By listening , students get the general of the first part of the story about Freddy Frog---how he joined the band. Then read the short passage about what the life was after the band became famous. Finally ask the students to discuss what are the advantages and disadvantages of becoming famous. 2.The analysis of the students After having studied senior English for the first half of the semester, the students have the ability of getting and processing information as well as reading and writing in English. In this class, students have learned some words and expressions about music, so they can use some of them to express. The English levels of the students are different. The class activities are designed to accommodate all the students. Each student can participate in the activities.

III. Goal Analysis 1.The students have already learned some words and expressions about music, so

they can use some of them to express. 2.The students already know how a music band comes into being. They will be able to know what are needed to form a band. 3.The students will be able to complete a descriptive writing task using the language they’ve learned with the guidance from the teacher.
