I. Topic: How to write a speech draft II. Teaching Aims: 1. Enable students to get the key points of writing a speech draft; 2. Enable students to compose a speech draft based on the knowledge they acquired from a cloze and get the hang of how to write a good speech draft; 3. Arouse their interests in Chinese traditional sports and make them know more about Chinese traditional culture. III. Key Points: Lead the students to get the key words and key phrases as well as to use effective sentences to complete a coherent composition.

VI. Teaching Procedure: Step 1.Lead in. 1.

Discussion Create a virtual situation to arouse students’ discussion. If you are going to make a speech under the National Flag, what will you do to get your speech draft fully prepared? 2. Let the students work in pairs to discuss the topic and try to figure out what makes a good speech draft. Step 2. What makes a good speech draft? Lead the students to find out the three key points of a good speech draft. At the same time, display the three key points: A clear core message; A well-organized structure; Show, don’t tell. Step 3.Pre-writing 1.

Ask students to finish the cloze and get familiar with the content; 2.

Let them find out the key words, phrases and key sentences from the passage they finished; Step 4. Writing

Ask them to write a speech draft in 15 minutes; 2.

Show them some beginning and ending sentences of writing a speech draft before their writing; 3.

Display a writing model for their reference. And encourage them to develop their own new ideas. Step 5. Post-writing

Ask students to exchange their compositions with deskmates to revise their compositions
