Unit 2 How to write a postcard 佛山市禅城区镇安小学卢婉华

Teaching Objectives: 1.

Pupils are able to identify the text type features of a postcard. 2.

Pupils are able to understand the content of a postcard with the help of questioning techniques. 3.

Pupils are able to write a postcard to the teacher, Maikel.

Teaching Procedure: 1.

Introduce the text-type: Postcards 

Tell pupils that people write postcards on holiday. 

Show pupils the ppt. to introduce the features of postcards. 

Group work: pupils work in groups and put different parts on a postcard.

3. Read a postcard 

Tell pupils that Vicky receives a postcard from her friend Maikel. 

Read the postcard with pupils, ask them questions about the text type features. 

Go through the postcard with pupils and ask them questions

about the content by the worksheet. 

Pupils answer some questions about the postcard. Then check the paper by pairs.

Post-reading activities 

Group work: Ask pupils to finish the worksheet. 

Vicky writes a postcard to Maikel. Ask pupils to write a postcard to Maikel. Try to introduce Foshan to him. 

Read their own postcard to their deskmate.



If time permits, students have presentations.

Conclusion about the features of the postcard.

Homework: 1)

Finish your postcard. 2)

Prepare P18 and P19. Then finish the exercise for 4a and 5b.
