Module 7 Unit 2 How many apples are there in the box?

Ⅰ. Teaching targets: 1.

Knowledge and abilities: (1) Enable the students to read the words from 1 to 99, to recognize the numbers from thirty to ninety, and describe the numbers of things in our life. (2)Enable the students to understand the sentence structure: “How many …?” Enable most of the students make sentences with “How many …?”

(3)Enable the students’ habits in listening and speaking English.

Ⅱ. Teaching important and difficult points

1. Important points:

(1). Words: thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety. And words like thirty-one, eighty-five etc.

(2). Sentence pattern: “How many … are there …?”

(3). Understand and read the dialogues in this lesson. 2. Difficult points: (1). Tell the difference between

“–teen VS –ty”

(2). Sentence pattern: “How many … are there …?”

Ⅲ. Teaching preparation.

Books, cards, ppt and CD-ROM Ⅳ.Teaching procedures: Step 1. Warm-up:

Sing a song from Module 6 Unit 2“Three Green Parrots”

Step 2. Revision of the numbers: (1) What numbers can you see from the picture? (2) Let’s count. (Count pencils and lead students review “twenty and thirty”) Step 3. Lead-in:

Who has sharp eyes? Look and order!

There are some numbers on the blackboard in disorder. Students think and put the numbers in a correct order.

Step 4. Presentation: 1.

Look at the picture, there are so many monkeys. Listen and answer “How many monkeys are there?”

(Students listen to the tape then answer the question) 2.

Watch the video and count the numbers to the video. (Students rest a little and count to the video) 3.

Let’s watch a video, after watching, tell “what are they?”

and “How many?”

(First, tell “what are they?” then, listen again and tell “How many are there?”
