Module 5 Unit 2 They were young Ⅰ. Material analysis 本课是外研版新标准小学英语第四册第五模块第二单元They were young。本课通过展示图片里主体的变化，学习用was/ wasn’t谈论过去与现在的变化。本单元很贴近生活，因为每天都有不同的变化，只要留心就会发现细微的差别，培养学生的善于观察的能力。

Ⅱ. Teaching aims Knowledge aims：

1. 能听懂、会读、会说、会写以下词汇：young, old, short, long, clean, dirty。

2. 能听懂、会读、会说句型：He/She/It was(wasn’t)…then. They were(weren’t)…then。

Skill aims：

能简单描述生活中过去与现在的变化。

Emotional aims：

通过对本课的学习，让学生学会对事物进行分析与观察，培养学生的细致的观察能力。

Ⅲ. The key points and difficult points

Key points：

能听懂、会读、会说句型：He/She/It was(wasn’t)…then. They were(weren’t)…then。

Difficult points：

能正确使用“was/were”，“wasn’t /weren’t”

谈论过去的事情和情况。

1. Look at the picture and guess who she is. And then try to use “was” “wasn’t”

to describe the picture.

2. Look at the pictures and try to describe the differences of now and then by using the same sentence patterns.

3. Read the new worlds and sentences after the teacher.

1. Show them a picture of a student and lead them describe the differences of now and then.

2. Show Ss more pictures and lead them use “She/he/It was (wasn’t)…then.” “They were(weren’t)…then”

to describe now and past.

groups. Each group chooses one picture to describe it by using as many the sentences they’ve learnt as possible. Ask some groups to show in front of the class.

This class is related to students’ life very much. The pictures can arouse students’ interest and environmental awareness. Students can have a good command of new words and sentences after practice. But imitating and saying sentences by themselves is a problem. Discussing i can help students a lot.
