Ⅰ.The Material Analysis: In unit1 Amy and Sam fought with a T-shirt, but at last Ms Smart told them that the T-shirt was Lingling’s. Then the children said sorry to Lingling and Lingling said that was OK. After that they went to fly a kite. The topic of this unit is about past events, and let students talk about what people did in the past. It’s very close to the students’ daily life, so the students must be very interested in it. Ⅱ. The Students Analysis: As for the students, they come from grade 5. Their ages are full of curiosity. They are curios, active, fond of games, competitions and various activities. What’s more, up to 2 years’ English learning, they know some basic English knowledge and they can complete some easy tasks with the guide of the teachers. And in my class most of them are girls who like shopping and buying lots of beautiful clothes. Therefore, it’s easy to talk about the clothes and who bought the clothes for them.
Ⅲ. The Teaching Aims: First, the knowledge objects.
·Let students remember the new words and phrases through listening and imitating , such as, pair, shorts, argue, matter, took, wear,
and so on.
·Through listening and communication let students master the grammar of the past tense, the what-question, the yes or no question and the short answers. For example, Mum bought a new T-shirt for me. What’s the matter? Did mum bought the new T-shirt for Daming? No, she didn’t. /Yes, she did.
Second, the ability objects. ·To develop students’ ability of listening, speaking, reading and
writing. ·To guide the students to set up the effective learning strategies. Third, The Emotional Objects. ·To develop the students’ the spirit of cooperation through pair
work, group work, competition and discussion. ·To arouse the students’ interest in studying English and to set the
confidence in speaking English through speaking out and acting out. Ⅳ. The Teaching Key Points and Difficult Points: The Teaching Key Points ·First, the new words and phrases, such as, pair, shorts, argue,
matter, took, wear, and so on.
·Second, how to describe the past things, for example, Mum bought a new T-shirt for me. What’s the matter? Did mum bought the new T-shirt for Daming? No, she didn’t. /Yes, she did.
The Teaching Difficult Points ·Let students express their own thoughts in the proper situation correctly by using the past tense. · Help students master the correct spelling of the past participles. ·The pronunciation of “argue”

Ⅵ. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Warming up and Leading in (It will cost 5mins) 1.
Let Ss sing the song “Where did you go?” to review the past tense. 2.
Let them have a free talk by asking and answering T: Where did you go last night? S1: I went to Hongyuan supermarket. T: What did you do there? S1: I bought a new T-shirt. T: Did you buy a new skirt?
S1: No, I didn’t. Step 2 Presentation (15mins) 1. Let Ss watch a cartoon about different clothes and find out the clothes: dress, coat, cap, T-shirt, trousers, shorts, socks (in this part pay attention to the plural form of trousers and shorts. )
2. Let Ss talk about their clothes which they are wearing today
T: Look! I wear a red T-shirt. My mum bought it for me. (show a card “wear”
in this part teach some new words
bear---wear, and let Ss spell the words with T)
S1: Look! I wear a yellow coat. My dad bought it for me.
More practices by the Ss using their clothes and school things. 3.
Learn the text (1)
watch the flash and understand the text content (2)
listen again and circle the new words (3)
teach some new words and sentences: argue, took, What’s the matter? That’s OK. And more practices by communication. E.g., Don’t argue.
What’s the matter?
Sam took my new T-shirt.
That’s OK. (4)
answer two questions:
What’s the matter with Amy and Sam? Did Ms Smart buy new T-shirt for Sam/Amy?
(5) listen and follow
(6) role play
Step 3 Consolidation (15mins)
T: Did Ms Smart buy new trousers for Daming?
S1: No, she didn’t. She bought new trousers for Tom.
S2: Did Ms Smart buy new trousers for Amy?
S3: No, she didn’t. She bought new trousers for Sam.
Show them some beautiful new clothes and do more practices.
Let Ss make a new conversation in pairs and then choose some volunteers to act out in front of the class. Step 4 Summary and Homework (5mins)
Summarize the new words, the past participles and the sentences. Then have the Ss read out as soon as possible.

Ⅷ. Teaching Reflection
In the class, almost every Ss can master the pronunciation and
spelling of these new words individually, and most of them can use the
target languages to talk about the past events. There are some beautiful
new clothes for them, so they are interested to talk about the clothes and
who bought them. Most Ss are very active in this class.
However, some Ss aren’t able to grasp the correct past participles,
especially the irregular form due to the limited time and lacking of more
practices. In the next class, more exercises will be added.
