Unit2 Colours

Teaching material First, please allow me to talk about the analysis of the teaching materials. The topic of this lesson is colours which come from unit 2, grade 5, PEP English book of primary school. Colors are related to Ss daily life. After this lesson, the Ss can know how to speak different colors in English correctly in their daily life and they can use the sentence “I see……” to express what color they see.

二Students The second part is analysis of students. The Ss in grade 5 are very curious and active in this period. They like sing and playing games. They are also sensitive to colours. So, in order to attract their interests, I will use different teaching methods to create a nice atmosphere to let Ss learning English happily. 三Teaching aims The next part is analysis of teaching aims. I set three teaching aims according to the idea of new curriculum standard in English. 1.

(The first one is) knowledge aims. After learning this lesson:

students can learn some new words: red green blue and yellow (2)

Students can use the sentence: “I see……” to express what colour they see. 2. Ability aims: On one hand, students can develop their listening and speaking skills. On the other hand, students can use what they have learnt to express colours in English in daily life. 3. Emotional aims: Students can cooperate with others activity, increase their interest and improve their confidence in English learning. 四Key/difficult points Next, I want to put forward the key points and the difficult points of this lesson. 1.

Key points: students can learn new words about colors and can use the sentence: “I see……” to express what color they see.

Difficult points: students can use the key words and sentences in their daily life. 五Teaching and learning methods:

According to the new curriculum standard, and after studying the teaching aims and the students, I’ll use communicative approach and task-based teaching methods to help Ss get a better understanding in this lesson. As for the study methods, students will use cooperative and practice methods to learn the new knowledge. 六Teaching procedures. Now, I’ll talk about the most important part of the teaching design: teaching procedures. The lesson will be divided into 4 steps: warming up and lead in; presentation and practice; consolidation; summary and homework. Step1: warming up and lead in I’ll begin this lesson with a song “Hello”. Then I will show a picture of a rainbow to them and ask them: “what color do you see?” after their different answers, I will begin the new lesson and write down the word “colors” on the blackboard.

These activities are to attract students’ attention and build a relaxed English learning atmosphere.

Step2: presentation and practice In the presentation part, in order to teach the new words vividly. I’ll draw some pictures on the blackboard such as: apple, banana tree and ocean. Then I will use the chalks of different colors to color these pictures. And ask them: what’s this what color is it? Help Ss answer and write down the word “red” on the blackboard. Lead students read the new words in “high and low voice” several times. Then I’ll use the same ways to teach the other 3 new words: green blue and yellow. After learning the 4 new words, I’ll play a game “I say, you do”.

Order the color card in number 1 2 3 4. And when I say one, Ss should quickly say red. And when I say two, they should quickly say blue and so on.

Now, let’s move on to the sentence learning. I’ll show some flowers. Red flower, green flower, blue flower and yellow flower. I will hold one flower in my hand and say: “I see red” “I see green” “I see blue” or “I see yellow”. Then write the sentence on the blackboard and read the sentence several times with Ss. Then I will tell them here can replace by these words. Such as: I see blue. 2

In order to consolidate the sentence, I’ll play a game “stop”. Let Ss pass the flower in the class. And when I sat stop, the Ss who hold the flower he or she should quickly say: I see red or I see yellow and so on. These activities can help students master the new words and sentences naturally and lay a good foundation for the next step. Step3: consolidation Then I’ll talk about the third step of my lesson, consolidation. First, I will show a picture of Olympic rings in the PPT. let Ss to say the colors of the Olympic rings and use their crayons to draw it. Then I will invite some volunteers to the front of the class to show their pictures. Then I will divide the class into several groups. One Ss hold the picture of Olympic rings and point one color, the other Ss should quickly say: I see red or I see yellow and so on. This activity can arouse students’ interest and involve the whole class. Students can cooperate with others actively and complete the task together. Step4 summary and homework At the end of the class, I will invite a volunteer as a little teacher. He/she will make a summary about what we have learnt today. Then I will give students homework: describe the colors of their clothes or other things to their parents in English. Summary can help Ss to grasp the new knowledge and homework can consolidate what they have learnt in class and develop their speaking skills. 七Blackboard design At last, let me talk about my blackboard design. It’s brief and clear. It can help students to master the key points.
