Ⅰ.Analysis of the teaching material

This is the third period of Module 6. It consists of vocabulary and grammar, which mainly requires practice in class.

Ⅱ. Teaching aims 1.

Use different ways to help students to learn the usage of new words, expressions, compound words and the article by themselves. 2.

Through practicing again and again help students to be familiar with the language points and the grammar points and use them freely in practice. 3.

Help students develop some learning skills such as guessing meanings according to the context, and concluding phrases with similar usage.

Ⅲ. Teaching important and difficult points 1.

The usage of the new words, expressions, compound words and the article should be clarified. 2.

Practice in class should be through different ways to help them use them freely. 3.

Some language skills are to be developed in class.

Ⅳ. Brief introduction to the students

The students have learned English for several years and they have some knowledge of this language, which makes it possible for them to learn the language points faster. What’s more, they have learned the usage of article so through revision exercises they can be impressed by the usage this time. However, some of them don’t learn well and therefore show little interest in English. So it is necessary to arouse their interest and plan different activities. Ⅴ. Teaching methods

Different and various activities are designed for students to think independently and learn more actively. They can discuss in pairs or groups.

Ⅵ. Teaching procedure

Step One (2 min)

The language points to be learned in class are listed out. Ask Students to find out the original sentences in the book so that they can get to know their meanings in the context.

Step Two (30 min)

The ten words and expressions are explained one by one. In this step, various activities are planned for students to do in order that they can use their head and learn actively in an interesting way and that they can gradually develop the language skills consciously.

Step Three (5 min)

In this step, the different types of compound words are introduced and then students should make compound words at last they conclude the common rules of compound nouns by themselves.

Step Four (7min)

It is about the definite article and zero article. First revision exercises are given to the students so that they can review the usage of article. Next ask them to do Activity 1 & 2 and after that compare these two to get the difference between the definite article and zero article.

Step Five (1 min)

This step consists of and assignment. According to self-assessment, students in a group make up a story using the words and expressions in this class. Ⅶ. Teaching Thoughts

In this class, the main task is to let students develop the language skills while learning the vocabulary and grammar points. So we should focus on practice through various designed activities and enable them to use their head to think and learn.
