Using LanguageⅡ教案和学案内容

一、教学内容分析

本单元的中心话题是“发明家与发明”，具体涉及“发明与发现的区别”、“发明产生的过程”和“申请发明专利的条件”。语言技能和语言知识都是围绕“发明”这一中心话题设计的。只要人类在地球上生存起，发明就是人类生活的一部分。每一项发明都是每一个人在解决问题和应某种特别的需求，经过不断的科学实验的结果。因此发明和发明家不是新东西，只要大家勤于思考、发挥想象力和创造力去解决问题，就可能有所发明。

Warming Up部分提供了一些图片，要求通过小组讨论弄清“发明”和“发现”的区别。因为这部分的问题很有趣且具富有挑战性，所以能调动学生讨论的积极性，达到热身的效果。

Pre-reading部分让学生了解发明家为了让其发明得到认可所必须通过的六个重要的程序，让学生意识到发明和科学过程之间的联系。

Reading部分是一篇记叙文。故事讲的是一个女孩如何通过多次尝试最后成功地把在她母亲家院子里安家的一窝蛇捉住并放归大自然，她的捕蛇技术申请了发明专利。学习这篇短文，让学生更进一步了解发明的六个重要程序并说明发明不一定是非常重要的东西，有时它们是一些细小的解决问题的方法。

教学目标

1. Knowledge and ability:

(1) All students know the difference between a discovery and an invention and the correct order of the stages every inventor must go through.

(2) All students acquire the main idea of the text.

(3) Most students can analyze the structure of the text and summarize the main idea of each part.

(4) Most students can communicate with others about their thoughts about inventors and inventions and how the writer solved the problem of the snakes.

2. Process and method:

(1) All students practice certain reading skills skimming and scanning to get main and detailed information.

(2) All students learn proper ways to communicate with others by group work.

3. Emotion and attitude:

(1) Students will be aware of the importance of thinking and solving problems creatively.

(2) Students will be interested in taking about some great inventors and their great inventions.

(3) Students will realize what good qualities an inventor should have.

(4) Students will know only by getting a patent can inventors protect themselves and their inventions.

五、教学过程

Step 1 Lead-in.

Get Ss to guess “what are they famous for” by showing them some pictures. Some of the pictures are about great scientist and their discoveries and the others are about great inventors and their inventions. (引出本课的内容——发明家及其发明，同时锻炼学生的口语表达能力。)

Step 2 Warming up

1. Get Ss to discuss the difference between the inventions and a discovery and give a definition of them and give some examples of each category.

2. Ask Ss to look at the pictures and answer the following questions.

（通过图片等来区分发现与发明，从而进入文章主体。）

(2) Which of the pictures is a discovery?

3. Show Ss some interesting inventions.

(1) Which of the pictures is an invention?

(通过展示有趣的发明的图片来引起学生对自己发明的兴趣，并思考进行一次发明要经过怎样的过程，从而过渡到读前部分。)

Step 3 Pre-reading

Guide Ss to work out the correct order of the stages an inventor must go through. (分组展示讨论后的成果，主要锻炼学生的团队合作精神和口语表达观点的能力。)

1. Read for the main idea. (采用快速阅读方式，练习怎样归纳主旨大意。)

2. Read for the organization.

Get Ss to divide the passage and work out the main idea for each part.
