Step 1 Revision

1.Have a free talk: show some pictures to review the words of the period. Students guess “What is it?” by showing the pictures. 2.Revision: translate some sentences from Chinese into English, then check.

Step 2 Presentation

1. Show different pictures of parks, and then introduce our city or town, eg: I think there are a lot of interesting things to do in our city/town. I’d like to take them to…Park.

Students learn the vocabulary by watching pictures.

2. Show different pictures of other things. Ask: What can we do in your town? Describe different things: Is there a park/a theatre/an underground station near your home?

Do you like going around this city/town by underground?

How long does it take

from your home to the nearest park/theatre/restaurant? etc.

Step3 Skimming Skimming and scanning: Have a guess according to the description of the teacher.

Step 4 Practice Let students read the article quickly.

Step 5 Consolidation: Listening practice Listening carefully to the text, and answer the questions as following: 1. Where’s Sunshine Town？

2. What can people do in the park? 3. What can the exchange students buy in the shops? 4. What can the exchange students eat in the restaurants？

5. Where can the exchange students enjoy Beijing opera? Check the answers on the PPT.

Step6 Extension: pair workMary is an exchange student from the UK. He wants to call Daniel to ask questions about Sunshine Town. Work in pairs to make up a conversation.

Step 7 Homework

1. Recite the new words and phrases. 2. Read the text after the tape and then recite it.

3. Finish the exercises, B4, p34.
