Step 1. Warm up student will sing an English song Old Macdonald 's farm and dance with the video. T ask: What farm animals do you know?
Ss make a brainstorm and say.
Step 2. Lead in 1.Ss look at the cover of this book carefully and answer question: what can you see from this picture, read the title, guess the meaning of morning call and the difference between rooster and hen.
Step3. Presentation 1.Ss read by themselves for the first time and find who are in
the story,T stick 4 animal figures on the blackboard, the rooster, the cow, the hen and the donkey. 2. Watch a video of the story book and find what do they do in the story, Ss repeat the verb phrases with me: give milk, lay eggs, make bean curd, then S1 match the animals with their jobs on the board.
3. Ss read by themselves again from P8-11, find what do they say. Then read the sentences after the PPT. 4.
T divide the Ss in 4 animal groups, if you want to be the rooster, you can sit in group 1, the cow sit in group 2, the donkey sit in group 3, the hen sit in group 4. I’ll ask the Ss in different groups: What can you do? What do you want to say to the rooser? Ss do the actions and say the sentences together in a group.
5. Four Ss role play and do the animals' actions in front of the class while others tell the story.
6. Ss guess what do the animals want the rooster do. They read the sentences after the PPT and learn the actions by TPR: get me some tea, give me some fruit, fan me, massage me. 7. One S role play and do the rooster's actions while other say the orders quickly. After the rooster runs between the groups for a little while, Ss ask the rooser: Are you……? I’ll ask the rooster:How do you feel? What do you want to do? and take the rooster back to seat and have a rest. 8. Ss guess and say What happens next morning? Can the rooster make the morning call? They can say in Chinese. Step 4. Practice Ss can read the end of the story and finish their work sheets by fill in the blanks on the mind map in groups.
Step 5. Summary
T ask the Ss: What do you learn from the story? Without the morning call, there is no milk/ eggs/ bean curd, should the rooster make the morning call everyday? It’s his job. What jobs do you know? Who give us beautiful houses/ save our life/ make street clean/ ……
?
Ss: workers/ doctors/ cleaners/ ……That is to say, every job is important. We should love and respect every job. Step 6. Homework
Homework for today is: If you like telling, you can tell the story to your familyand friends. If you like writing, you can make an ending for the story and send it to me. We have learned how to read a picture book in this lesson, after class you can try to read more picture books.
