I. Teaching aims and learning objectives By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

1.To learn the new words and useful expressions 2.To learn how to get around Sunshine Zoo . 3.To learn to give directions

II. Teaching contents 1. New words and phrases: everybody, straight, on, bamboo, along, road, king, remember, that, dangerous, sound, forest, funny, laugh, giraffe, quite, neck, leaf, north-east, bridge, cross, all day long, make beautiful sounds, make people laugh; 2. New structures: Go straight on and you’ll find the Panda House.

Walk along the road.

Turn left, and to the west of the Lion’s Area, you’ll find the World of Birds. III. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty 1. To talk about the looks and the habits of the animals; 2. To learn how to get around the zoo.

IV. Teaching procedures Step 1

Revision and Lead-in Free talk. T: Look at the pictures and tell me the directions 【设计意图：通过生活中熟悉的场景，导入到参观动物园这一主题。】

Step 2 Pre-reading 1.Presentation T: Show some pictures. Among these places, where do you go for your class trip at the weekend? Why do you go there?

2. Animals in the zoo.

T: What can you see in the zoo? Which animal do you like best? 3.

Use some words or phrases to describe the following animals after 3 minutes’ reading. 【设计意图：结合图片，让学生初步了解课文涉及的动物，并学习部分新词。】
