Lead in: Enjoy a short video

T: Good afternoon, boys and girls. S: Good afternoon,Miss Hu. T: Sit down, please. Let’s enjoy a short video first and tell me what you can see in it. (about 3 minutes later) T: What can you see in the cartoon?

S: A girl. T: Who is the girl? S: Alice. T: Yes. What else can you see? S: A rabbit.

T: Do you know the story? S: Alice in wonderland T: What is wonderland? T: It is a world full of amazing things. T: Did you read the book or watch the movie before? S: (some say)Yes. (some say)No T: If you know the story, it is better to understand today’s lesson. Do you want to travel to Alice’s wonderland? Are you ready?

Presentation: new words and phrases T: look at the picture, where was Alice at the beginning of the story? S: near the river T: and we also can say “by the river”, “Alice sat by the river.”

T: Then what did Alice see?(show the second picture) S: A rabbit T: what is in its hand? S: A watch T: what was the rabbit doing S: It was looking at the time. T:”The rabbit took out of a watch and looked at the time” read the sentence.

T: What did Alice do when she saw the rabbit? Look at the picture. S: run after the rabbit T: Yes, “she ran across the field after the rabbit.”

T: Where did Alice go? S: It went to the whole. T: And it is a rabbit hole. What did Alice do to run after the rabbit? S: “jumped the hole”

T: what happened to Alice after she jumped the hole? Look at the picture. S: she was falling. T: she was falling and falling. So we can say “Alice fell for a long time.” and then she.....(show them another picture) S: “hit the ground”

T: Is there anyone else in the hall? S: No. T: That means she is alone, right? So Alice “found herself alone in the hall”. T: what did Alice find in the hall?(show them another picture)

S: many doors T: but the doors were... S:“locked”

T: very good. Do you know these words now? S: Yes. T: let’s have a check. Match the left with the right to make a phrase. (1minute later) T: Finished? Let’s check the answer. T: Number 1?

S: b. take a watch out of its pocket S: d. run across the field S: a. jump down a hole S: e. find oneself alone in a long low hole. S: d. go through a door T: well done. Who did these things?

Let’s make sentences with the phrases. The first one: The rabbit took a watch out of its pocket. How about the others? S: Alice ran across a field. Alice and the rabbit jumped down a hole. Alice found herself in a long low hole. Alice could not go through the door.(the students read the sentences together) Pre-reading Step1 fill out a table T: The title of today’s story is down the rabbit hole, right? I have some questions? Who jumped down the hole? S: Alice T: only Alice? S: Alice and the rabbit T: Yes. When did they jump down the hole? Let’s see who can find the answer first. S: One sunny day T: Yes, you are very quick! Why did Alice jump down the hole? S: she did not want the rabbit get away. T: You are quick and correct. What happened to Alice at the end of the story? S: she was alone in the hall. T: Yes, could she go through the small door? S: No, she couldn’t.

S: I feel surprised. I want to catch it. S: I feel amazed and I will run after it. T: Maybe you want to make friends with it.
