1. Learn to say: Do you like it here? There are no shopping malls. We’re going to the shopping mall. Can we go fishing again tomorrow? Tomorrow I’ll show you my TV. Wasn’t it boring?

唱说歌谣: The polar bear.

Step 2. Revision 1. 教师出示

Nicola的人物图片，介绍故事背景和人物。

T: Summer holiday comes，Nicola leaves her family and goes to Grise Fjord to visit her grandparents. 2. 出示地球仪，学生观察并回答问题：

T: Where is the Arctic/Grise Fjord?

(North of Canada) 3. 出示北极风光图片，说说在北极都看到了什么？

T: What can you see in the Arctic? 4．将学生分成4组，用猜猜看的游戏进一步复习巩固重难点单词，突出单词的拼写和发音的练习。

eg: ice hill, lake, snow, snowmobile, igloo, polar bear, the Arctic hare, the Arctic fox, snowy owl, …

1. 出示图片，学读生词：shopping malls/TV/playgrounds（教师直接板书）

2. T: Are there shopping malls/TV/playgrounds…….. in the Arctic? 学生学说并分层次操练: There are no shopping malls/TV/playgrounds…….. in the Arctic.

3. T: Do you like it here? Why? Does Nicola like it here? Why? How can Nicola’s grandparents do?

教授新的单词boring, fantastic，great fun等，拓展学生的思维。

Step 4. Learn the story

1.请学生带着上述问题看书中所呈现的故事，理解故事。

2.学生自由朗读故事，找出不懂或不会读的地方，互相帮助，或在班级中提出作为共性问题来探讨，培养学生的自学能力。

3.请学生尝试回答: Does Nicola like it here? Why? 理解故事的第一层含义。
