一、教材分析

本单元的中心话题是“英国文学”和“小说欣赏”。本节课的内容取自《傲慢与偏见》，节选部分的情节很简单：达西向伊丽莎白求婚，遭到拒绝。本节课以欣赏为主，学生通过阅读本节内容，学会概括故事情节，通过人物对话分析人物内心活动。

二、教学目标

1. Knowledge Objects

Master the key vocabulary.

Learn how to analyse characters. 2. Ability Object

Train students’ speaking and reading skills.

Enable the students to understand the extract from Pride and Prejudice.

3. Moral Object

Help the students learn how to appreciate and enjoy English novels.

三、教学过程

Step 1. Brief introduction to the book Main characters: Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty, Lydia Bingley Darcy Catherine: aunt of Darcy Wickham Charlotte: Elizabeth’s friend Collins 设计意图: 使学生对小说背景有个大致的了解，以便更好的理解课文内容。

Step 2. Before reading Deal with the vocabulary and phrases 设计意图: 帮助学生扫清读前的阅读障碍。

Step 3. Reading

Read the text in groups and then finish the exercises.

Exercise 1. Answer questions 1.

Why did Elizabeth refuse Mr. Darcy? 2.

Why was Mr. Darcy sure that she would accept him? Exercise 2. Discuss for the reasons Now imagine you are Elizabeth’s father and wish her happiness. You understand that there may be personal reasons for her to refuse Mr. Darcy’s proposal. However, you also recognize that there are many reasons for Elizabeth to accept him. Discuss to help Mr. Bennet make the correct decision. Reasons for marrying Mr. Darcy

设计意图: 练习1的问题可以直接从文中找到答案，训练学生的阅读能力。练习2要求学生针对故事情节进行讨论，陈述自己的看法，训练学生分析问题的能力。

Step 4. Dealing with language Analyse some sentences from the text. 1.

设计意图: 通过分析课文长难句进一步帮助学生理解小说，并加强阅读能力的训练。

Step 5. Homework 1. Read the text carefully, and analyse the main character Elizabeth and Darcy. 2. Read the novel in your spare time if possible. 设计意图: 鼓励学生分析小说人物；养成阅读习惯。

四、教学反思

本单元的主题是小说鉴赏，本节课通过欣赏小说《傲慢与偏见》的节选片段，让学生走进英文小说。希望通过本课的学习，激发学生对英文小说的兴趣。建议学生多阅读文学名著，这样不仅有利于扩大词汇量，还可以欣赏到不同作家的不同风格。好的小说往往需要重复阅读才能体会其精妙之处。总之，小说不仅要多度、会读，还要乐读。
