1. Aims: To learn how to develop a paragraph 2. The important and difficult points: 1) sturcture of a paragraph 2) ways to express the reasons Teaching procedures: Step I Review Reading I of Unit 5 and find out : What difficulties did Xie Lei come across when she was studying abroad? What has she learned during her studying abroad?

Step II 1) Present your persuasive reasons

Topic: Should stuents study abroad after high school? Groups 5-8 : In favour of studying abroad after high school

Groups 1-4 : Againt studying abroad after high school

2) Pick out the most persuasive reasons

Step III 1)How to develop a logical paragraph? 1. Content: choose the three most persuasive reasons 2. Structure: beginning + supporting sentences + conclusion Beginning (topic sentence) + supporting sentences (reasons)+ conclusion 赞成Some people say yes, saying the Internet helps make many friends. 反对Others, however, think students should not, for they think making friends on line is a waste of time. 过渡There are various reasons, among which the most significant is that+ reason 1…… . Versions of developing a paragraph: A The majority of us think that it is better to see the film than to read the book in the original. The reason is that it takes less time to understand the whole story. Besides, the film is usually more interesting, and it is easier to follow. Last but not least, it is a closer relationship of your friends together. In a word, seeing a film is a fantastic thing. B Some others have just the opposite opinion. They think that they can get more detailed information from the original. Meanwhile, the language in the book is possibly more lively and beautiful.What most attracts them is that they can communicate with the author deeply.

2. 网络俚语是否该禁止？

Should Internet Slang Be Prohibited? At present, Internet Slang, such as “GG, MM, Xia Mi”, has become popular among teenagers. Some students say no, for they think Internet slang is vivid, fashionable and full of humor and intelligence. Besides, it makes chatting on the Internet quicker. However, other students think Internet slang lacks depth of thought and is too simple, and also, it is hard to understand and can’t be accepted by most people. What’s worse, the words sometimes might make people confused, even resulting in misunderstanding. In my opinion, living in the Information Age, if we don’t know the Internet slang, we seem to fall behind the times, and therefore, it will be OK as long as these terms are used in proper situations.
