Unit 2 My family

(Part C Story time) Analysis of material:

This part provides key sentence patterns of this unit. The key sentences are presented by a language environment of story. Then it gives “Let’s check” and “Let’s sing” in order to examine what students learned. Teaching aims:

Students have learned all the words and key sentences of this unit. They also have recognized cartoon characters “Zip” and “Zoom”. Teaching key point:

Some pictures of family members. Teaching procedures:

Step1 Warm-up (1)

Let students take out photos that they brought and introduce them. (2)

Have students sing “Father and Mother”

along with the tape together. Step2 Presentation

Show a photo of Zoom’s father and mother.

Ask: Who are they? (Students answer it)

Then play a video, let students watch it.

Ask: Who is an actress? Who is beautiful?

What are the meanings of “actress” and “beautiful”?

(Teacher explains them by using living example)

Play the recording, let students read the content of the story after the recording.

Role- play the story in groups of four. (Give proper praise)

Step3 Practice (1)

Finish “Let’s check”

First let students look at the four pictures. Have a guess what they are maybe talking about. For example, in picture 1, the two boys are maybe talking about that old woman. Teacher plays the recording twice. Students listen and number. Then let students say their answers. Show a picture of Sarah’s family and two sentences. Let students tick the correct sentence according to the picture. Then read the sentence together. (2)

Play a song “I love my family.” Let students sing along with it. Then tell students to love their families and everyone around them. Step4 Homework
