Main Text:

Western Holidays Kitty is talking to her friend Laura in the UK on the Internet. They are talking about some western holidays. K: Hi, Laura. L: Hi, Kitty! How are you ? K: I’m great, thanks. Today is the Dragon Boat Festival in China. It’s my favourite Chinese festival. What’s your favourite holiday?

L: Well, everyone in the UK likes Christmas. It’s on the 25th of December. At Christmas, we usually decorate a Christmas tree. And on that day, we have a lot of nice food and we give presents to each other. But my favourite holiday is Easter.

K: When’s Easter?

L: It usually comes on a Sunday in March or April. K: What do you do at Easter? L: We usually go on an egg hunt. Someone hides a lot of eggs and we must find them. Then we can eat them!

K: But you don’t like eggs, Laura.

L: No, I don’t. But these ones are different. They’re chocolate eggs! K: That sounds interesting. Umm… Do you know Thanksgiving?

L: Yes, of course! But we don’t have Thanksgiving in the UK. People in USA have it. It’s on the fourth Thursday of November. People always eat turkey and pumpkin pies for a family dinner. K: Oh, I see. Umm, how about Halloween? L: Halloween is so much fun. I will mail some photos to you next time.

Hello, I’m Laura’s friend, Dora. I like going on an egg hunt at Easter. First, we paint the eggs colourful and decorate them with stickers.

Next, someone hides the eggs. And then, we must find the eggs with our friends. We can put them in the basket. It is so much fun. Finally, we can eat the chocolate eggs. They taste very nice. I like egg hunts.
