Today I will talk about the teaching ideas of this lesson-Not just watching a film, in unit 4. It includes six parts: Analysing teaching material, Analysing the knowledge level and study characteristics of high school students, Teaching and studying methods, Teaching procedure, Blackboard design, Summary and evaluation.

Analysing teaching material This passage is a business presentation about virtual reality. With the rapid development of science and technology, our wildest dreams might come true some day. It includes these parts: how RealCine works, why it is better than films, how it can be used in other ways. This high technology can bring amazing benefits to us in every aspect in our life. Through reading this passage, we can feel the strong power of science and technology. ·Teaching aims According to the new lesson standards, students should improve the ability to use English in all dimensions. Today I will made teaching aims in three dimensions: 1.

knowledge aims know the characteristics of a business presentation Grasp the use of new words, phrases and important sentence structures 2.

ability aims Apply the reading strategy: skimming and scanning to get useful information Give an oral presentation about your ideas of the use of virtual reality in schools 3.

moral aims feel the great power of science and technology

Analysing the knowledge level and study characteristics of high school students Students in high school has already studied English for 9 years. They have basic ability of listening, reading, speaking, writing in English, but still lack the studying techniques in their studying. Most of them hate remembering vocabulary and put emphases on writing and grammar. They have big problems in speaking and listening. Most students lack interests in studying English and just for exams. Their pronunciation is also not accurate due to few spoken practice. Analysing the knowledge level and study characteristics of high school students helps improving the teaching and studying methods.

Teaching and studying methods I will do my best to carry out the following theories:make the students the real master in class while the the teacher myself as a guide; improve the studying interests of the students after learning their life experience and cognition level; provide many practice chances to develop their ability of cooperation and communication; receive moral education while learning English. I will adopt these activities: question-and-answer activity; watch-and-listen activity; free discussion; pair work and so on. Teaching aids: some pictures; a projector; multimedia; the blackboard

Teaching procedures

A) Lead-in(5min) I will use computer to show several pictures of The Avengers which can arouse their attention and interest. Then I will ask: Have you seen a 3-D The Avengers? What do you think makes you feel all the characters fighting and flying around you? This can lead the students to the new lesson and practising their speaking and thinking ability.

B) Fast-reading(5min) Ask the students to read this passage with the following questions quickly, which can train their reading strategy-skimming and scanning and the ability to get useful information. 1. What is the name of product? 2. What information about RealCine does the writer give? 3. Analyze the structure of the text.

C) Detailed reading(12min) In this part, I will guide the students to read the passage one paragraph by one according to the structure.

Para 2 1. What’s the technology behind RealCine? 2.Why is RealCine better than a film? 3. Let's enjoy a convincing example together. Para 3 1. How does RealCine work? 2. The specific information about how RealCine works. Para 4--7 1.What did the teenager experience in the world created by RealCine? (para4) 2.Why do some people think that users will be disappointed by RealCine? (para5) 3.How could firefighters be trained with this new technology? (para6) 4.What is the advantage of using RealCine for urban planning? (no more than 4 words) (para7) 5. Let's summarize the convincing examples of this part.

D) Consolidation(5min) Complete this title “Not just watching a film ...”

such as Not just watching a film, but also a feeling of happiness. （L12，Para2）

E) Discussion(8min) Ask students to discuss how to use this technology in schools and then give an oral presentation about your ideas. This activity can practise their oral expression and improve their awareness of cooperation and communication as well as their imagination.

G) Homework(2) Write a article about your ideas about how to use this technology in school. This can make the students use the learned words and phrases and sentence structures to express their own ideas.

Blackboard design In the middle, I will write the title of this article. On the left, write reading strategy: reading a business presentation. On the right, write new phrases and important sentence structures.

Summary and evaluation That’s all about my ideas of teaching. In my class, I will try my best to make the students the real master of the class, make them speak more, express more and practise more! Thank you!
