教学目标：
To learn to say different sports in English To find out why sports are so popular throughout the world To learn to talk about your favourite sports and athletes
教学重难点：
Help students grasp the methods of memorizing these words so as to improve their integrated skills.
教学过程: Step 1: Lead in:
Do you know these athletes in the following pictures? (Present students with some famous athletes in the world.) 1. Deng Yaping: The greatest table tennis player in the world. 2. Xu Haifeng: The first Olympic champion of China. 3. Michael Jordon & Michael Phelps. Step 2: Presentation 2.1 A question: Why do you think sport is so popular? 2.2 What’s your favorite sport? 2.3 Brainstorming. Present some pictures and describe some kinds of sports. Badminton; volleyball; table tennis; basketball; gymnastics; swimming; diving; wrestling; shooting; cycling; fencing. Step3: Practise Read these new words again and match them with the right
Chinese meaning. Step4: some more detailed introduction to sports Table tennis; Diving; Boxing Step5: Discussion How often do you play sports? What sports do you usually play? Step6: Homework Review reading part & finish Part A; Search more information about Olympic Games; Give a presentation about what you have searched.
