3.learn about how to rhyme and enjoy the beauty of rhymes; 4.learn how to take good care of animals. II. Teaching contents New words and phrases: poem, wide, hide, build, camp, fight, till, end, trouble, touch, care, run after sb., build sb. sth./build sth. for sb., look after/take care of, till the end, have to, do other things, look around for, make trouble, be afraid of III. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty 1. To read the poems fluently in different ways. 2. To learn about how to rhyme and enjoy the beauty of rhymes. 3. To find out the rhyme words. Step 1 Lead-in 1.Greetings

2.Enjoy a video T: Today we’ll learn the part of Reading of Unit 8. Before we start our lesson, let’s enjoy a poem called Saying Goodbye to Cambridge Again, then answer the following questions. (1)Who wrote the poem?

(2)Do you know any other Chinese poems? Purpose: Because the students don’t know the name of the poem, encourage them to learn more Chinese poems. 3.Stick the Chinese poems

To advocate Chinese poems ,I ask some volunteers to write their favourite Chinese poems on the sticky notes. And to save time, they stick these poems on the blackboard before class. Purpose: To lead the students to know the variety of Chinese poems and lay the foundation for the last step of this class. 4.A recital contest at Chentao Middle School T: In recent years, more and more TV programmes start to talk about Chinese poems. Look at the picture ,do you know its name? Ss:中国诗词大会

T：Yes，it’s Chinese Poetry Conference. Do you like watching it? It’s a good way to learn Chinese poems. To learn more Chinese poems, there will be a Recital Contest on Chinese poems(诗词朗诵比赛) at Chentao Middle School. Do you want to take part in it?

Ss: Yes.

T: You should get this ticket if you want to go to the match. Now you are divided into 6 groups. At last, the group gets the most scores will get this ticket. Step 2 Presentation T: Here are four tasks for you. Let’s come to the first task. Are you ready? Now here we go!

1. New words and expressions. (1)T: Now please read these words in Group One in your own group. And then I will ask one group to read these words together. If the group can read these words without any mistakes, the group will get one score. Then read these words together. (2)T : Now please read these words in Group Two in your own group. And then I will ask one student to read these new words. In he/she can read these words without any mistakes, the group he/she is in will get two scores. After that, we read the words together. Purpose: Give scores according to the difficulty so as to make the students enthusiastic all the time. 2. A poem about My dog (1)Listen and judge T: Listen and tell me what animal it is.

Ss: Dog . T: Yes ,it’s a dog.Do you like dogs?Today we’ll learn a poem. It’s name is...

Ss: My dog.

Purpose：To come to the poem by using the sound of the dog. (3)Read after the tape (4)A simple analysis on the rhymes of English poems T: Boys and girls, when we read poems,we should know that Words rhyme if the last syllables make the same or similar sound. Purpose:To know the simple rules of rhymes. (5)Find out the rhyme words (6)T: For example, in the first two sentences, ‘All’ rhymes with

‘ball’. Now please take out this paper and finish Part B1.And I will ask some students to tell us his/her answer. The student with correct answer will get one score for the group. (a) “ All ” rhymes with “ ball ”.

(b) “ Wide ” rhymes with “ hide ”.

(c) “ Tricks ” rhymes with “ sticks ”.

(d) “ Bite ” rhymes with “ fight ”.

(e) “ Friend ” rhymes with “ end ”.

(7) Read in groups and answer T: Now please read in groups and answer the following questions(the students whose answer is right will get one score for his/her group ): (a) Is the dog the cleverest animal of all? (b) Does he just run after a ball? (c) Does he do wonderful tricks? (d) Will the writer look after him till the end? (6)Read and match T: Now please read the poem by yourselves and finish Part B2.

When the world is better, we will also be better. Ss: Better world, better us! Purpose: To know the importance of learning Chinese and English. And to understand the importance of exchanges to the world.

V. Homework 1. Read and recite the poem, Saying Goodbye to Cambridge Again in both English and Chinese.

Teaching reflection:This lesson is the third lesson of Unit 8.When the lesson is over,students can read the new words and phrases fluently.They can also read the two poems correctly and enjoy the beauty of rhymes.In regards to emotional education,student are able to know how to take good care of animals and know the importance of learning Chinese and English well at the same time.But there are some disadvantages in this lesson.My teaching sentences were not so various and colorful.When it comes to the part of thinking about the rhyme words, I didn’t give enough and good tips to the students.And when students gave me their answers,my explanation was not so good.Besides,the homework perhaps is difficult for my students.They should read after the tape.So after class,I should play the video again.And in the future,I should think more about my students’

abilities,not only for the outcome.
