7B Unit 5 Amazing things Period 1: Comic strip & Welcome to the unit

I. Teaching aims: 1.Aims of knowledge: To know some unusual things. 2.Aims of abilities: To improve abilities of expressing themselves by choosing proper adjectives. 3.Aims of emotion: To love the amazing world and love life. II. Teaching focus and difficulties: 1.Learn some words and phrases to talk about something unusual. 2.Recognize and use adjectives that describe feelings of likes and dislikes. 3.To say something about unusual things.

III. Teaching methods: Task-based teaching, Pair work, Group work

Ⅳ. Teaching aids: Multi-media, blackboard and tape recorder V. Teaching procedures: Step 1. Lead-in 1.Show a video of unusual things.

2.T: how do you feel? Present new word “amazing”. Step 2. Presentation 1.T: Can you tell me some amazing things? 2.Show the pictures in Part A. Introduce some amazing things and learn the new words. Step 3. Practice

1.Ask the Ss to match the pictures with the sentences in Part A.

2.Ask the Ss to practise reading the sentences by themselves. Step 4. Presentation 1.Show some pictures of fun facts. Ask the Ss to talk about the pictures using adjectives that describe feelings. 2.Ask the Ss to listen to Kitty and Amy’s conversation,then answer questions: 1).which pictures are they talking about?

2).How does Kitty feel? What about Amy?

3. Read and act out the conversation in pairs. 4.Ask the Ss to make new dialogues to talk about amazing things. Step 5.

Presentation

1.

Show the video of a UFO,then talk about it. 2.Get students to watch the comic, and try to answer the following questions. 1).What does Eddie think it is?

2).Is it a real UFO?

3).What is it in fact? 4).Why doesn't Eddie think it is a plane? 3.Fill in the blanks according to the comic.

4.Read the dialogue in pairs.

5. Choose some pairs to act the conversation out in class. Step6.

Summary

Enjoy a video and make a short summary about today’s lesson.

Step7. Homework 1.Make sentences with new words. 2.Look for more amazing things and share them with friends.
