Ask the students to describe what they learn about the USA and then fill in the blanks . 2.

Group work: look at the map of the USA with your group. Write on the map the names of as many of the following as you can. Compare your names with other groups. Step 2 Lead-in Ask the students to tell things about California including its location, size, population, economy, history etc. What do you learn about California? Step 3 Fast reading &Listening 1.

Read through the passage and get the main idea. 2.

Listen to the tape paragraph by paragraph and fill in the blanks. 3.

Read the text quickly to finish the reading tasks.
