Lead-in Warming up before class. Teacher and students greet each other, then teacher plays a short clip of a song, then students try to find the words about jobs in this song. Lyrics snippet: doctor, actor, lawyer or a singer

why not president, be a dreamer? you can be just the one you wanna be

policeman, fire fighter or a post man

why not something like your old man ? you can be just the one you wanna be 

1. Teaching Vocabulary: pupil

T: She is a student in a primary school. So she is a pupil. (The courseware displays and emphasizes that she is a pupil.) T: ... is a pupil. You’re all pupils.

Once again，help students understand and reinforce vocabulary and encourage them to use it.。

S:We are pupils.( Test the student's learning effect.) 2. Teaching Vocabulary: actor

Enhance function sentence “Who’s that man?” And gradually introduce another function sentence “What does he do?”

T: Who’s that man?

(The courseware displays a photo of Cheng Long.) S: He is Cheng Long. T: He can act. What does he do? After the students formed the thought logic, the students can guess the meaning of the sentence “What does he do?”

S: He is an actor. （Stand out “an” in bold color，and emphasize its usage.）

3. Teaching Vocabulary: scientist

T: Who’s this man?

(The courseware displays a photo of Einstein.) S: He is Einstein. T: What does he do? Ask different students to repeat the answer and check the pronunciation. T: Do you want to be a scientist? Make sure that the students understand who they want to be. T: You are great, but it’s not easy. You must study hard.

(The courseware displays a photo of WangFei.) T: Who’s that woman with short hair? S: She is Wang Fei. T: What does she do? S: She is a singer. She can sing songs well. Lead the students to say out more singers. 5. Teaching Vocabulary : police officer

T: what does he do? (The courseware displays a photo of a police officer.) Ss: He is a policeman. ( The students answer with the words they have learnt.) T: Yes. He is a policeman. And he is a police officer. One of the classmates' father happened to be a police officer. T: What does your father do? Guide students to use “My ...is a police officer.” to practice vocabulary. 

Consolidation Practice reading the words repeatedly by speaking softly or loudly. After the new vocabularies are completed, students are encouraged to participate actively in the game. 

Practice Activities Make practice through level-based games. Level 1—Hit Hamster Game Hamsters appear and disappear with the words about jobs just like ”pupil” ,”actor” ,”singer” ,”scientist” and ”police officer”. Lead students review the words what they learnt. Level 2—Quiz: quick response

The students memorize the words in groups, and then the teacher quickly flashes the words learnt in this lesson to select out the fastest response group.

Level 3—Role-play The teacher give the word cards to students, the students say out the English word twice, then the role-player turns back and says, " I’m a/an …”



Best Writing The students practice writing on their scratch papers, then write down their favorite job on the writing paper. The teacher chooses the best works to stick on the blackboard.



Homework Talk about the jobs with your parents using the words we have learnt today such as “actor”, ”police officer”,

”singer”,

”pupil”

and “scientist”.
