Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Lead-in 1. Do you like sports? Why? 2. What sports do you know? Step 2 Welcome to the unit Sport plays a very important role in our lives. We see or do sports almost everyday. Look at the following pictures. Are you familiar with these sports? Discuss the following sports with a partner to see how much you know about them.

Boxing Do you like watching it? (a short introduction of boxing) 3.

Kung fu is a traditional sport in China. Are you interested in it? Which do you prefer, Kung fu or boxing? 4. Gymnastics and diving Step 3 Pair work What do you know about the Olympic Games? Have ss work in pairs,discuss what the Olympic motto is. Step 4 Disscussion 1. How often do you play sport? What sports do you usually play? 2. What are the benefits of doing sports?

Divide the whole class into several groups.Then choose several groups to show their opinions. Step 5 Homework 1. Surf the Internet to find more information about sports. 2. Preview reading text.
