课文的第二部分呈现的是一段有关Australia的介绍，从animals, sport和city三个方面突出了这个国家的interesting。教材内容是比较的简单的，为了更好地突出interesting，基于文本我进行了有效拓展：1）展开介绍了kangaroos和koalas这两种动物；2）播放了一段令人激动的Australia football games比赛场面，让学生了解到The Australian football is an oval. Players can carry or hit the ball with hands. 3）介绍悉尼的Sydney Opera House。学生通过文本阅读，对Australia这个国家有了进一步的了解。
