1. learn some information about the history of kites from listening materials; 2. enjoy outdoor fun by taking part in outdoor activities. 3. increase the awareness of safety and protecting the environment;

Lead-in

Have a guessing game. Look at some pictures and guess what outdoor activity it is. Have a free talk. Do you like outdoor activities? What outdoor activities do you often do? Do you like flying kites? Activity Two Listening and speaking Step 1 Presentation Talk about kites with different shapes. Listen to a conversation and finish Part A1on p75. Step 2 Practice 1. Talk about the history of kites. Have a group competition: Guess who they are and what happened between kites and them. 2. Listen to Mr Wu’s talk and match each person with the correct event of Part A2 on p75.Read and remember the four persons’ events.

3. Listen to the talk again and finish Part A3 on P76. Listening tips

(1). Before listening, we should read the passage quickly and try to find the useful

information. (2). When we listen to something long, we must try to get keys words. Check the answers. 4. Read the passage and answer the questions. (1).When did the Chinese begin to make kites? (2). Who made the first kite in history? (3). Who found a new way to make paper?

(4). Who let Western people know about kites? Activity Three

Speak up Step 1 Discuss in pairs Do you like to have a picnic? How do you feel when you go out for a picnic? If you get lost(迷路) and want to call your family, what do you need? Listen and answer the following questions What can they do when they have a picnic? Step 2 Read and act out. Step 3 Make our own dialogues. Homework 1.Talk about the history of kites with friends after class; 2.Try to find more information about kites on the Internet; 3.Read a passage about the history about flying kites.
