Project :Writing a science fiction story Teaching aims:

By the end of the class , 1.

Students will improve English through doing a project. 2.

Students will use imagination to think about what will happen in the future with the rapid development of science and technology. Teaching procedures: Step1. Lead-in Watch a video and answer the questions What is the name of the film? What kind of story is it ? Explain what a science fiction is to the students Give the brief introduction of the writers to the students. Step2.Reading

Task 1 Read the passage quickly and then answer the following questions.

1.When were these science fictions written? 2.What did these science fictions tell about? Task 2: read each summary of these two novels carefully and answer the following questions

First: Where do the German professor and his nephew travel to?

What do they see during their journey?

second: What has the scientist invented?

What does he find when he travels to year AD 802,701?

Consolidation:

Ask students to read the two summaries again and find out the basic elements of each story. Divide students into two groups and each group only has to read one of the summaries.

On his trip, he sees a lot of surprising and even frightening people and things.

1. Finish the WB exercises(B1, B2and D1, D2)

2. Read the two summaries.
