Reading I

I. Analysis of the teaching material

This is a part of Alice in Wonderland, which is a famous fairy tale. The story is about a little girl called Alice chased a strange rabbit and fell down the rabbit hole and then had an amazing and fantastic adventure. II. Teaching aims and learning objectives

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to: 1. Understand and put the important vocabulary and phrases to use. 2. Pay attention to the time order of the action during the reading procedure. 3. Extract the messages from the text with different reading skills individually or in groups. III. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty

Step1. Lead-in (5 min)

T: Look at the picture. Who is he? It’s Walt Disney. Have you ever seen these Disney films before? Can you tell me their names?(show the posters on the screen.) S:Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Bambi, The Lion King, Cinderella ,Sleeping Beauty and The Little Mermaid. T: I’m going to show you a short video and answer my question: What is the video about? S: It’s about the film Alice in Wonderland 设计意图：通过迪士尼电影海报的展示，将学生带入对童话故事的回忆中.继而，通过短片生动地引入爱丽丝梦游仙境的人物及部分情节。

Step2. Presentation (25 min)

1. pre-reading Look at the following pictures and guess: what are they dong? 设计意图：通过图片和肢体语言学习生词和短语，为精读扫除障碍。

2. while-reading i. fast reading Read the whole passage as quickly as you can and try to find right places for the three pictures and put them in the right order. There are five paragraphs in the passage and we can divide them into three parts according to the three places. 设计意图：根据地点顺序将文章分成三部分，为精读作好铺垫。

ii. detailed reading Let’s read Para 1 together and tell me when, where and who. Read Paras 2& 3 and then answer three questions. Read Paras 4 & 5 and fill in the blanks. 设计意图：分段阅读并完成任务，借助问题和表格呈现细节。

3. post-reading Read the passage again and put the sentences in the correct order 设计意图：整体复习文本。

Step3 Production (15 min)

1. Review the phrases and sentences by looking back those pictures. 2. Retell the story and pay attention to the simple past tense. 设计意图：借助图片和关键词的呈现，帮助学生用自己的话复述课文，旨在培养学生的口头表达能力和逻辑思维能力。

V. Homework

1. Watch the film Alice in Wonderland. 2. Finish the exercises B1 & B4 on P71 and P72. VI. Teaching Reflection( 教学反思

This is an interesting lesson. Brave Alice and her fantastic adventure will arouse students’

great interest. Teacher should pay more attention on how to keep the interest and encourage students to be imaginative to find wonderful things in our daily life.
