Unit 5 Let’s eat!

Contents: PEP3 Unit 5 Let’s eat!

Teaching aims:

1.Knowledge aims: Students are able to listen, recognize and read the letters and words: Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss, Tt, bread, juice, egg, milk, water, cake, fish, rice.

2.Ability aims: Students are able to use the sentences of this unit to talk in real situation: “I’d like…”“Can I have…?”“Have some…”, “Here you are.”“Thank you.”“You’re welcome.”

3.Affective aims: Try to understand the importance of a healthy diet and the difference between Chinese food and western food.

4.Teaching difficulties:

To be able to express their mind of wanting food by saying “I’d like a / an / some…” or “Can I have a / an / some…?”

Teaching Procedures:

Step 1 Greeting.

T: How are you? Nice to meet you.

Step 2 Listen and do:

Show me …, shake your …, clap …, drink …, point to…

Step 3Presentation. (PPT)

1)Happy Sheep (Xi Yangyang) and his friends are having a party: What do you see? (Students tell the whole class what they see on the table, and the teacher show PPT and chant.)

(This is the first step to let the Ss to say out the names of food they see.) 2)What would they like to eat?

(With the help of a real situation, the sheep can use the key sentences in Unit5 to practice asking for food of choosing the food.)

3)What do they do after eating?( ...eating, singing, teaching letters--- chant.)

(During the teaching, we educate the Ss not to eat too much, just because to keep a healthy diet. And the Chinese food pyramid and western food pyramid can exactly show the difference between each other)

4)Who comes at this time? And what would Grey Wolf( Hui Tailang ) like to eat?”(Students share their ideas.)

(The famous cartoon Happy Sheep and Grey Wolf which is welcome in the whole country and it fits the characteristic of Grade 3 students. And it can arouse their interests of learning English, which is the most important point to make the Ss enjoy English, no matter listening, speaking, reading and writing)

Step 4 Group work.

Five or six students in a group. One is Slow Sheep(Man Yangyang), the other group members ask for food from him by saying “I’d like to

eat…?” or “Can I have…?”

(For the group work, I created the real situation to let them use and practice especially the passage. This helps them know the important of cooperation in learning.)

Step 5 Exercises.

1. Let the students stick the word cards beside the right pictures.

2. Listen, read and match.(Paper)

Step 6 Homework.(PPT)

1.Practice the chant on the paper.

2.Search for food pyramid on the Internet.

3.Sing the song “ Everybody wants to eat” to your family.

(I provided a good platform for the Ss in different levels and abilities. So Ss can get more information out of textbooks. And that’s what we need to pay attention in our teaching.)
