The Third Period (Section B, 1a–1b)
Teaching aims and language points: 1. Learn these words and expressions, and be able to say and read them:

2. Be able to talk about subjects and lessons by using

Teaching steps: 1. Warm-up.
(1)Daily greeting
(2)Sing a song together to lead in new lesson. 2. Revision and presentation.

Tell the students there are 7 days in a week according to the song.

Let the students read the words of days to check if they can read them. Then tell the students Sunday is the first day and Saturday is the last day in English. (3)
Ask the students“What day is it today?”to lead in the timetable.
(4)Show the timetable.Let the students say the subjects they have on Tuesday and Monday. Lead the students to review the subjects they have learned last lesson. (5)Teach the word “free”. (5)Let the students look at the timetable to talk about their favorite subjects.
(6)Show a book of a geography book. Ask the Ss:
T: What subject is it? Ss: It’s geography. T: Do you like geography? Why? Ss:Yes, because...
No, because... T: I like it, But I think it’s difficult.
Then show the PPT with the word “difficult” and it’s opposite “easy”.
Present the describe words“boring”,“interesting”,“fun”,“cool”in this way.

Work on 1a. Let the students match the words on the left with their opposites on the right and check the answers. (9)
Show the PPT with subjects, describe words and the conversation:A:Do you

(10)Work in pairs to practice the conversation, then let some pairs to show their conversations. 3.
Listening practice.
(1) Work on 1b. Listen and check the words in 1a. (2) Read the schedule. (3)Teach the words“A.M”.,“P.M.”
(3) Work on 1c. Listen again and circle the classes David talks about on the schedule.(Before listening let the students pay attention to days and the classes when they are listening)
(4) Check the answers together.
(5) Listen and fill in the blanks and check the answers.
(7) Let the students read the short conversation in groups. (8) Show the listening material to the students, then ask them read it in groups.
(9)Let the students pay attention to the sentences in the conversation.
4. Pair work.
(1) Work on 1d.Show the conversation to the students. (2)Students follow the sample to talk about their own favorite subjects in pairs.
(3)Let some pairs share their conversations with us. 5. Game Do a memory test to review the words of days and words of subjects. 6.Summary (1)
Let the students sum up the words they learned this period. (2)
Let them sum up the sentences. (3)
Show the sentences “ All subjects are important for us, so we should try our best to learn every subject well.”to do the Emotional attitude and value education. 7. Homework
(1) Review the words and expressions we have learned today. (2) Preview the letter from Yu Mei to Jenny.
