Analysis of the teaching material 1. Status and functions This is the third part of the unit. In this part, students will learn some words about the days of a week and more descriptions, and they will go on learning how to ask and answer questions , for example, what’s your favorite subject? My favorite subject is… Why do you like it? Because it is…etc. These sentences are closely related to the students’studies, so the students must be interested in them. It is helpful to improve their integrating skills especially listening and speaking skills. 2. Teaching aims and demands Knowledge objects 1). Learn and grasp the new words. 2)．Learn and grasp how to ask and answer “what’s your favorite subject?”. Ability objects

Train the students’listening and speaking skills using the key vocabulary and the target language. Moral objects 1) Encourage the students to study their subjects better. Encourage them to express their feelings about their subjects with the descriptions correctly and bravely.

1. Psychology: The students of Grade Seven are quite young. They have poor English words and their oral English is very poor. But they are curious, active. They enjoy learning in the exciting, interesting and relaxing atmosphere. They are eager to show their abilities, and they like to cooperate with others.

The students have a certain degree of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. But their stills are very weak, their skills need encouraging and helping. 3. Learning ways: pair work, cooperative learning strategy Teaching procedures: Step1. Warming up and revision. 1.Revise the words in Section A: Ask the students to read the words together, and then ask them to find out the words about subject.

2.Ask them to add more words about subjects that they have learned.

3.Make a conversation with a student with these sentences: What’s your favorite subject? Why do you like it? Who is your …teacher? 4.Ask the students to make a conversation with their partners.

5.Ask some pairs to act out their conversations. Step2.Presentation: 1.Read the new words in Section B. Introduce the words about the days of a week mainly. And ask the students a question first: What day is the first day of a week? Then ask them to say out the second /third/ fourth/ fifth/ sixth/seventh day of a week. Tell them to remember the first day of a week is Sunday. And pay attention to the first letter of these words about the days . 2.Teach the new words about descriptions: busy ,free, cool etc. Step3.Finish 1a, ask a student to find out the opposites. Check the answers. Step4.Listening: 1.Ask the students to listen to the tape for one time ,and give the answers to 1b. Then check the answers together. 2.Listen to 1c. 1)Assign the task for the students to circle the classes David talks about on the schedule. 2)Listen to the tape carefully and finish the task. Learn to catch the important words. Concentrate their mind on the tape and try to get the correct answers.

3) Ask the students to say out the answers, Then check the answers . Step5.Listen to the tapes for another two times. Then ask and answer the questions. Help the students to understand the listening better. Step6. According to the listening, ask the students to fill in David’s schedule by themselves. Grasp the important sentences. Step 7.Pair work: Ask the students to talk about their own favorite subject with their partners. Use the sentences :What’s your favorite subject? Why do you like it? Who is your …teacher? When is the class? Then ask some pairs to act out their conversations. Step8.Homework: Writing work: What’s your favorite subject? Finish the workbook about Section B (from 1a to 1d). Recite the new words about Section B. Practice the oral English about this class with the partner.
