二、设计思路

本单元的中心话题是考古学，涉及到历史和人类学。语言知识和语言技能部分主要是围绕“考古”这一中心话题进行设计的。具体涉及“周口店遗址的北京猿人”“早期人类生活方式”、“如何判断遗址年份”、“秦始皇兵马俑”和“埃及金字塔”等，帮助学生增长考古学知识，更好地了解早期人类的生活方式和人类文明的发展过程。（Reading）部分设计了一组英国学生到周口店遗址参观的场景，通过学生与考古学家的对话，了解早期人类的生活方式，增长考古学知识，让学生体验人类文明的发展过程，同时激发学生对考古学的兴趣和研究古代史的欲望，提高学生探索世界的人文素养，在阅读兴趣很浓的情况下，提高学生的语言运用能力，这就为Learning about language地学习打下了伏笔，

这一部分设计了一个单词填空练习、一个短语填空练习和一个完成句子练习，让学生在语境中学习使用本单元出现的单词和短语。“语法部分”要求学生在阅读课文中找出带有现在完成时的句子，并设计了句型转换及补全对话的练习，使学生正确理解和使用现在完成进行时态。教材的这种设计给学生创设了语言情境，把语法内容变成了生动有趣的对话，让学生充满兴趣，让语法得到了实际运用。最后一个练习题设计了一个选做的游戏，要求学生用所学的各种动词的时态描述班上的同学，让其本单元的词汇既新又多，不能只让学生用词汇表、词汇手册或其它方法死记硬背，因此在学习Learning about language时，应设计多样化的练习形式对其进行训练，培养学生的猜词能力，要求在语境中理解和运用词汇，语法的学习也是一样，以对话或介绍人的小短文形式来进行语法练习，既巩固了语法知识，又让语法知识在实际生活中得以运用。这些方法不但培养了学生的归纳和语言运用能力，而且培养了他们的发散思维能力。

八、教学过程与方式

Step I Lead-in

1、Revising the main idea of the reading---A visit to the Zhoukoudian caves. Questions: (1) What did you learn about the earliest people last class?

(2) What do you know about the Zhoukoudian caves in China?

(3) Would you like to know more about the excavation in the Zhoukoudian caves? (4) Do you know about a famous archaeologist named Pei Wenzhong? 2、Let the students watch a short play about the excavation in the Zhoukoudian caves by Pei Wenzhong，and then discuss part 1 on page 40 【设计说明】

这些活动很容易引起学生的兴趣，激发他们学习和探究的热情，并自然地导入下一个活动任务。

Step II Discussion in groups

1. 让同学们互相交流从短片中所获得的信息。

Step IV Playing a role of a teacher in the front of the classroom Do a brainstorming and discuss in groups. 1.

【设计说明】这一部分活动的设计旨在培养学生将知识拔高的能力、通过对语法的归纳总结练习等方法，分析和解决问题，并能游刃有余地处理高考试题，学生在这个过程中，既获得语言运用能力，又掌握语言输出技巧。（掌声鼓励）。

Step VII Dialogues practice Ask the students to make dialogues about an interview to a campus star ,and then act their own dialogues with their partners in front of the class.The present perfect continuous tense must be used in the students’ dialogues.

【设计说明】这一部分活动的设计就是语言知识的实际运用，锻炼了学生自如地用英语交流的技能，同时也提高了学生的语言输出能力，用英语思维能力和交际能力。对话结束后，给表演的学生以热烈的掌声表扬。

Step VIII Writing and Speaking practice Choose a classmate in the class. Describe what he\she likes to do in daily life,what he\she did,has done or has been doing,what you think he\she will do after graduating from school. Then get the students to guess who the person is.

【设计说明】这一活动任务具有很大的开放性，既调动了学生的积极性和自主性，又激发了学生的课堂参与兴趣，点燃了学生强烈的求知欲，热烈的英语语言氛围顿然形成，学生发散性思维得到成功激发，英语语言表达能力得到了锻炼。（方法新颖，有挑战性，参与性强，气氛热烈）

Step IX Summarize and Homework

1、Surf the Internet or go to the library to get more information about the earliest people in Zhoukoudian. 2、Listen to the report on the Zhoukoudian caves.

3、Write a poster on the rescue of the Zhoukoudian caves.

【设计说明】这三个课后作业的设计主要是让学生利用课外阅读和上网查阅资料，扩大自己的视野，获取更多有关考古的知识，同时了解周口店遗址情况，并根据自己所学的知识，用英语解决现实生活中的问题。

九、教学反思

本节课依据《新课程标准》的精神出发进行教学设计,从运用的角度出发,从培养学生学习技能的目的出发,设计各个环节。整节课以学生为主体,教师指导学生通过观察讨论、探究合作等积极主动的学习方式操练各种语言技能，在活动中同时培养学生获取语言信息、英语语言实际运用的能力。本节课以“观看短片”和“讨论”等形式引出背景知识，为其后的习题处理作好词语、结构和心理准备。习题部分，通过快读、讨论和抢答等多种活动形式进行处理，学生对文章的主要内容、句子的主要结构都有了较深入的了解，按要求完成各种内容。最后的讨论活动、对话编写和小短文练习，使学生对这节课的语法---现在完成进行时有了进一步的思考和理解。通过短片视频观看、多媒体课件制作等激发学生的学习热情，使材料由抽象转化为具体、形象，降低词汇学习的难度，增强学生的参与意识，从而提高课堂效果。但因利用多媒体上课课堂容量大，密度高，而一堂课时间又有限，少部分学生很难与课堂教学保持同步，以后的教学中应该加强课前预习的指导和检查，尽可能做到人人参与，个个提高。
