Reading and Vocabulary (Ⅰ) The Analysis of Teaching Materials The content of my lesson is New Senior English for China Book 1 Module 4 A Social Survey—My Neighborhood. This module asks Ss to pay attention to the development of the neighborhood through a social survey. Reading and Vocabulary introduces the city of Xiamen by dialogue. From the part, Ss can learn how to describe a city, and at the same time, develop analyzing, summarizing and thinking abilities. More importantly, train Ss to love their hometown. Therefore, this period is in the important position of this module. If the Ss can mater them well, it will be helpful for them to learn the rest of the module. Ⅰ.Teaching Aims

Pre-reading(5m) T introduces her own hometown to arouse Ss’

interest and activate their background knowledge. Before we begin our new class, I ask you a question: Do you remember where I come from?... Yes, that means Shuozhou is my hometown. Now I make a brief introduction of Shuozhou to you. Shuozhou is located in the northwest of Shanxi Province; Shuozhou’s climate is similar to Jingle’s, and it has four different seasons, including spring, summer, autumn and winter. During the past years, they’ve put up a lot of high-rising buildings. shopping malls and apartment blocks. Shuozhou is very modern now and completely different from what it used to be. And there are some famous places of interest, such as Yingxian wood tower, Chongfu temple and Beigu mountain.

People in Shuozhou are friendly and hospitable. Ok, would you like to go to Shuozhou? Yes? If you’d like to, I can be your guide. This class we’re going to know something about Xiao Li’s hometown. Look at the picture on the screen. Do you know where this place is?... 2.

Suppose John comes to Jingle, please introduce Jingle to him. Ask Ss to work in groups to draw a mind map of Jingle and every group chooses two Ss to present by dialogue. One plays the part of John, the other plays the part of a native in Jingle.(15m) (2)

Teaching Reflection As an English teacher, I should strengthen teaching in English in class. At the same time, urge Ss to voice bravely in class. Teachers and students work together to create a good atmosphere for English learning. More importantly, apply new teaching concepts to daily work.
