---The first period

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, I am very glad to show my teaching plan here. The lesson I am going to talk about is the first period of Unit12 from Book A Grade 7 Go for it, My favorite subject is science. Generally, I will teach this lesson according to the following aspects:

Ⅰ. Understanding of the teaching material Ⅱ. Teaching important points & difficult points

Ⅲ. Teaching methods and teaching aids

Ⅳ. Teaching procedure

Ⅰ. Understanding of the teaching material

First, let’s come to my understanding of the teaching material. For this lesson is about preferences and giving reasons, its purpose is to improve the students’ speaking ability as well as to help them grasp the grammar focus. All these tasks will be done in order that students can use English to express their favorite things well. So I’d like to divide the objectives of this lesson into three categories:

Knowledge Objective: In this lesson, students are required to master the ability of talking about their favorite things, especially their subjects and explain the reason as well as learn to ask someone else about their favorite things.

Ability Objective

This lesson focuses on preferences and giving reasons, so I will train the students’

speaking skill and communicative competence.

Besides, in order to cultivate their ability of discussion, dialogues and even performing, students should be asked to talk freely in English with partners by using the expressions and then act their dialogues out.

Moral Objective

Unit 12 is a unit about favorite subjects. As we know, at present, there are many students whose schoolwork is quite imbalanced, they may be interested in one or two subjects and do well in them. Therefore, I’ll tell students not to be interested in only one or two subjects. They should learn all of them to be knowledgeable. Ⅱ. Teaching key points & difficult points

Now, I would like to introduce the teaching key points and difficult points.

According to this lesson, the key points for teaching are to help the students master the new words. Besides the difficult points for teaching are to make the students master the target language: ①

Why do you like math/science….? ③

Who is your science teacher? ④

Well, according to the teaching key points and difficult points, I will adopt communicative approach, pair work and practice method as my teaching method in my

class. Students are trained to learn and think independently. Besides, I will use a computer and the blackboard as the teaching aids.

Ⅳ. Teaching procedure Now let’s focus on Part 4, the teaching procedure. I want to carry it out in the following steps:

Step1. Greeting, reviewing and lead-in (10 minutes) I will greet the students as usual, then show some pictures about four

Step2. Guessing game

In this step, show some pictures about our teachers. In this way, introduce our teachers and let students know more about our teachers, Ask the students: “Who’s she/he? She/ He is our…teacher. What subject does she/he teach? She/He teaches…”

At the same time, play a guessing game in order to review the new words about subjects.

Step3. Listening and pair work

Look at Activity 1a Section A, match the words with the pictures. Then do 1b: Listen and circle the subjects in 1a that they hear. Continue to listen 2a , put the conversation in right order. At last, listen 2b and match the subjects with the description words. After listening, ask the students to practice the conversations like this:

Step4. The memory game practice

students to see it for a minute, then check who can tell the answers and who has a good memory. It comes to the step of doing a survey as a practice. Here, I will ask the students to retell what they have remembered, review the language points.

This activity provided communicative practice using the target language, thus it will help the students consolidate the learned knowledge. Step5. Practice------ Do a survey

Ask the students to make a survey. Interview one of their classmates and find the information about his/ her favorite things and the reasons. Give us a report. In this way, I can make my students use what they have learned in class immediately. re

Step6. Do some exercise

The exercise is about choosing the best answers, translation and correcting the mistakes. In this part, ask students to master the knowledge and learn to use the language points. Step 8 Summary and Homework

The last step is the summary and homework. First I will spend two minutes in repeating the new words and strengthening the target language to help students obtain the knowledge objective. Then it comes to the homework.
