一、教学目标

1.知识目标

1).Get the students to review the following important useful new words . fortunate pretty bother nuisance mall gorgeous starving 2).Students can get the details by reading and guessing in the context in pairs. 2.能力目标 1).Improve the Ss’ ability in reading. 2).Train the Ss to grasp the mean idea and detail information of the text. 3.情感目标 Students will be amazed at the beauty of Xiamen and feel more confident and prouder of their hometown. 二、教学重难点

Difficult point: 1.Get the students to guess the meanings of the new words in the context and paraphrase some sentences. 2.Get the students to grasp the new words and learn to speak using the new words and expressions. 三、教学方法 新授课教学基本环节：预习检查

四、课前准备

五、教学过程

Step 1 Lead in 1).小游戏-通过信息猜城市。Guess:Which city is it according to the four tips? 2).出示含有厦门鼓浪屿的图片，说：Look at these pictures! Do you know where this place is ? Listen to the tape about this place and try to get as much information as you can . Step 2 Brainstorming:From which aspects do we usually introduce a city?

Step 3 Reading 这一环节包括两项活动: 1). Scanning 快速阅读课文，然后做与课文相关的选择题和True or False 练习。（即Activity1&2 on page33）
