(一)Teaching objectives: 1. Cognitive objectives To read and understand the passage and the main words of the passage. 2.Emotional objectives To know how to protect the pandas and our earth. (二)Teaching key points Ss try to know the main meaning of the reading passage and understand how the Panda Base works . (三)Teaching difficult points Ss can tell some ways about protecting the pandas and other
wild animals in the world. (四)Teaching procedures Step 1. Pre-reading 1.Watch a short video of the film “Kongfu Panda”
2.Use a think map to have them say out some words about the pandas, like “big, fat ,cute,like eating/ sleeping…”
Step 2. While-reading 1)First reading Have Ss read the passage for the first time with the question “Where is the Panda Base?”
Check out. 2)Second reading Ss read for the second time and find out the answers of the following questions. Q1. Who works in the Panda Base? Q2. How many pandas were there in 1987 and 2011? 3)Third reading 1)
Have Ss to watch a video of the panda babies . 2)
Ss read and write “T” or “F”in pairs. Step 3. Post-reading 1)
Read the whole passage in chorus. 2)
Watch a video of the Panda Base.
Step4. Culture Watch and know some other wild animals in the world.
