Present the phrases sit by the river and pass by revising Paragraph 1-2.

Teach the use of by in the two phrases with some examples. 3.

Tell students more meanings of by with some sentences. Step 3 Presentation & practice

Present the phrase see sb. doing sth by completing the table. 2.

Ask Ss to work out the meaning of see sb. doing sth.. 3.

Ask Ss to make some sentences with the picture and the video. Step 4 Presentation & practice

Present the words surprise, surprising and surprised by making a dialogue. 2.

Practice using the words surprise, surprising and surprised by completing a short passage. Step 5 Presentation & practice

Ask students to put the sentences into the correct order after reading paragraph3-4. 2.

Present the phrase find herself alone by revising the story and present find+sb./sth.+adj..

Practice using find+sb./sth.+adj.by making sentences.Ask Ss to tell the meaning of the verb or verb phrases fall ,hit, stand up, run across..after, jump down. 4.

Ask Ss to retell the story with the words on the blackboard.
