Step 1 Warming up

1. Sing a song. 2. Show a picture of trees, let the students guess “What is it?, What can it do?” and have a short discussion.

3. Show the pictures of “pencil, desk, chair, book, paper, chopsticks”, show the words “chopsticks”

Step 2 new lesson

1. learn the new words:

show the pictures of “match”

and its plural form “matches”. Let the

students guess the five letters.

Show the pictures of “wood”. Let the students guess the four letters.

Discussion: Make the students discuss in groups. Talk about “Trees are useful. Shall we cut more trees? Give your own reasons. ”

2. learn the paragraph

Listen to the tape for the first time, try to get the general idea of the paragraph.

Listen again, answer the questions on the screen.

Listen for the third time, get the important phrases: make+n.+adj., get A from B, use A to make B, and get the meanings of them.

Step 3 exercise

1. Let the students choose the Chinese meanings in the box, use the phrases to make sentences.

2. Fill the blanks on big screen.

3. Try to translate the sentence according to its meaning.

Step 4 extension

1. According to the pictures on PPT, try to get the general ways to plant a tree.

2. See the video about “How does a tree grow up?”

Step 5 summary

I will give a conclusion.

Step 6 homework
