I.Analysis of the teaching material

The teaching mterial is Unit 4 What can you do ?Part C Story time in PEP Primary English Students’ book 5.This lesson is a story teaching, which is created by creating a true situation in the story so as to consolidate the core language material of the unit. The story tells of a rat who accidentally ran into a snake that tried to eat it, a clever rat who was actively trying to use his brain, to fool the snake, to escape from the snake's mouth. The students' cognitive level and interest in conformity with the teaching material contents and characteristics and that's what the child was interested in. The teaching content is divided into two parts:1.Students finish pre-reading activities by looking at the pictures and reading the characters' dialogues,discussing the beginning of the story and predicting the development of the story.Then,students sort the pictures after reading the story.

II.Analysis of the students 1.The fifth-graders have had a certain amount of language and knowledge in the past few years of English learning.Students to master some learning strategies.They are willing to learn language and to be able to learn it in groups. 2.The students' cognitive level and interest in conformity with the teaching material contents and characteristics.

Purpose of my design: From students' favorite cartoons, the topic is naturally transferred to the study of this story.
