Step1 Review the numbers Tell the children they are going to play a game. Say the name of this unit.Write the number names on the board. Then have the children come up to the blackboard and write out the number for each word. Step2 Word to learn Review the main story with the children.Take out the pictures and have the children read or tell the story by themselves.Remind them that they need to have a narrator when telling the story. Explain that they are going to act as reporters for their school newspaper,and they need to report some competitions on school sports day. Ask the children to look at all the words on the blackboard and what common feature they can find among the words, Step3 Match and say Have the children look at the pictures.Encourage them to tell who were in the race and what their positions were in the races. Give them enough time to match the pictures with the sentences.When they finish,ask them to read out the sentence for each picture.

Step4 Listen and match Have the children look at the pictures and say what the children are doing. Explain that the children in the pictures just ran in a race and ask them to guess what their positions in the race were. Play the tape.(twice) Check the answer. Step5 Listen and practice Have the children practice reading the sentences. Make sure their pronunciation is correct.
