To help Ss consolidate some important language points in unit 5 2.

To help Ss use the language points through pair work, group discussion and independent writing. Teaching Difficult Points: 1.

How to enhance Ss’ impression on language points in an interesting way. 2.

How to arouse Ss’ interest in using language points. Teaching Method: Task-based teaching and learning; cooperative learning; discussion Teaching Aids:

CAI and blackboard, handed-out materials. Teaching Procedure:

Step 1: Warming up Play a guessing game about some important vocabulary in this unit to draw Ss’

attention to the topic, arouse their interest in the topic and prepare them for the following tasks.

Step 2: Make a dialogue 1. Review some relevant language points by story dictation 2. Elicit Ss to work in pairs and use the given language points to make a dialogue based on the picture. 3. Ask a pair of student to perform the dialogue on the stage.

Step 3: Identification of an archaeological object 1.

Relevant language points consolidation: Create some information gaps by eliciting Ss to answer some given question based on the relevant language points. 2.

Show Ss the archaeological object (a terracotta warrior) for discussion. 3.

Discuss in groups of four or six and choose one student to make a report of identification for this archaeological object. ☆

Step 4: Basic writing

Use the given language points to write a letter to the mayor, appealing for more governmental concern about archaeological protection.

Step 5: Assignment Write down and recite the sample writing after class.
