Teaching Plan

Objectives and Requirements Language

Target:

Hey, you’re late. What were you doing? I was digging a hole for my new tree. Why did it take so long? I was dingging slowly. Why were you digging slowly? Because it was hot. Vocabulary

Key:

laugh, cry, dig, clap, slowly, quickly, loudly, quietly

Materials

Picture cards, magazines, photos, camera, film

was / were doing The First Class

conversation review 

Place picture card on the board. For example: exercising, working, shouting, thinking etc. Ask students What are they doing?(Students: He’s exercising. She’s shouting.) 

Take picture cards off the board, ask one student to come up and pick one of the cards. Tell him/her to act out what is on the card. 

Teacher: What’s he/ she doing? (students: (student’s name) is thinking) 

Do the same with some other cards.

Getting ready 

Have students look at the pictures on the page. 

Teacher: (point to the first and second pictures.) Who’s this?

Students: It is Gogo, Jenny, Ben and Lisa. 

Teacher: (point to the second picture.) What are they doing? Students: They are talking. 

Teacher: Look at the third picture. Ben is digging. Let’s dig. 

Model digging. 

Teacher: I am digging. Repeat. (students: I am digging.)

Teacher: OK, everyone. Sit down.

Using the book and the PPT(Give some cards to the students) 

Teacher: Now, let’s listen to the tape. Use the PPT to show out the actions. 

Have students look at the page and point to each picture for students to follow. 

Teacher: What’t s Jenny doing? (Students: She’s talking.) 

Teacher: What’t s Ben doing? (Students: He’s digging.) 

Teacher: What’t s Lisa doing? (Students: She’s laughing.) 

Hold up the book and point to the pictures. 

Teacher: Let’s listen again and repeat. 

Play the tape& PPT, pausing after each expression to have students repeat. 

Put students in groups of three and have them practice acting out the dialog. Encourage students to use the same voice expressions as the characters’

voices and add actions.
