Some tips on how to introduce a place 1.

Location 地理位置

Useful expressions: lie in; be located/situated in; in the south of...; stands at the foot/ top/bank of... Eg. China,(which is) located in the east of Asia, is one of the largest countries in the world. 2.

Social status 社会地位

Eg. Beijing, the capital of China,is the political and financial center(政治、经济中心) of China. Mianyang is the hometown of Libai, who is one of the greatest poets in Chinese History. 3.

Population 人口

Useful expressions: has a large population of + number; with a population of Eg. Guangzhou is a city with a population of about 15 million. Beijing, the capital of China, is a large city and it has a population of over 20 million. 4.

Climate 气候

Extensive reading: Mianyang is the second largest city in Sichuan Province, located in western China. It is recently named China's 3rd-most livable city. Mianyang covers an area of over 20,000 km² and has a population of 5.2 million. Mianyang's climate is pleasant and the average temperature is 16°C. Mianyang is one of China's major centers for the electronics industry. It is well known as a science and technology centre. Mianyang is famous for its beautiful scenery, long history, and deep cultural roots. It is the hometown of the famous poet Li Bai, and tourists can visit many historical relics（历史遗迹） of the Three Kingdoms period. Many local people like eating Mifen, especially in the morning. People here are very friendly and gentle. Several minorities（少数民族） live in Mianyang, such as the Tibetan and Qiang people.
